| Hello,
my name is Michael Miller and I am a Master Professor at Western International
University (WIU) and former program chair of both Behavioral Science and Research/Quantitative Methods. In case you're interested, here's a small collection of
some of my favorite teaching evaluations.
Background
I was born in New York City but presently reside in the Silicon Valley and work at Apple which is quite simply a wonderful company. I graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in psychology and history and minor in statistics. Upon graduation I
moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I worked for 3 years as a special needs
teacher in a residential facility for children with autism, mental retardation,
and developmental disabilities. This was unequivocally the
most fulfilling job that I have ever had. Working with these children taught me
the true meaning of patience and understanding of others. Following this role,
I entered school at Texas A&M University and graduated with a masters and
doctorate in Industrial/Organizational psychology with an emphasis on statistics and research methods.
I became a professor at WIU in December 1999 and have greatly enjoyed my affiliation
with the university.
Student Awards
Congratulations to Shiv Bhasin the recipient of the 2005 Outstanding Thesis of the Year Award. Thesis title: Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction Levels Amongst All Employees of Tree Top Company Limited. Shiv was a student in my RES 600: Graduate Research Methods course and I had the privilege of serving as his RES 785 thesis advisor.
Personal Awards
I was honored to receive the President's Award for 2007 (the first time that an online faculty member has done so) and wish to thank all of the staff members that voted for me. As is true for many individual awards, there are typically many people behind the scenes that deserve the largest amount of credit and recognition. In this regard I believe that the staff should collectively be praised for the work that they perform. Indeed, were it not for their efforts faculty members would not be able to effectively contribute to the university at large.
